Abstract:
The paper shows the necessity to take into account the reflected signal in a fiber-optic communication network using bidirectional transmission at the only wave length. It is suggested, using an additional network-node coding method, to identify a “loop” state distinguishing it from the resulted reflections caused by nonideality of a fiber-optic path. For successful implementation of this technical idea, it is necessary to provide stability of a transmitted information parameter involving a pulse power envelope. Mathematical simulation of an optical pulse form was performed in the case of multi-beam interference, dispersion, nonlinear variation of the refraction index and the damping index. It is found that nonlinear effects and dispersion are essential factors of distortion, whereas the multi-beam interference is shown as a blurred shape caused by high-order action. Thereby, the effect of the first interference order can be compensated by the selected power envelope at the same time.
