The advent and explosive growth of cyber-physical systems (CPS) alongside an increasing role of photonics in these systems have prompted the book editor to coin a new term - 'cyberphotonics'.
Cyberphotonics is a photonics division concerned with basic research, design, and manufacture of devices for sensory systems, information transmission, computing, decision making and control, which comprise an implementation base for solving cybernetics problems.
The book consists of three parts. Part I deals with constituent parts of cyberphotonics - sensorics, computing, neural networks, telecommunications, and actuators. Part II discusses different-purpose CPSs including monitoring of natural and man-made environment, computer vision, bio-medicine, military science, dynamic object control, and mobile cyber-physical systems. Part III concerns a cyberphotonics element base: diffractive optics and nanophotonics, terahertz photonics, digital logic units, and low-dimensional materials
