Doctor of Tecnical Sciences, Professor
Vladislav Viktorovich Sergeev
was born on April 7, 1951 in Kuibyshev
In 1974, Vladislav Viktorovich Sergeev graduated with honors from the Kuibyshev Aviation Institute, KuAI (now the Samara State Aerospace University, SSAU) named after Academician S.P. Korolev and was sent to work in the industry research laboratory No. 5 of KuAI. Within the walls of the university, he went from being a research engineer to a leading researcher of the laboratory, professor of the Department of Technical Cybernetics. In 1978, V.V. Sergeev defended his candidate's dissertation, and in 1993 - his doctoral dissertation. Since 1994, he has been the head of the laboratory of mathematical methods of image processing at the Institute of Image Processing Systems of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
V.V. Sergeev is a specialist in digital signal processing, image analysis and pattern recognition. He is the author of about 150 scientific publications, including the monograph "Image Processing in Automated Systems of Scientific Research" (published by "Nauka"), articles in central and foreign journals, author's certificates and patents. Currently, the fundamental work "Methods of Computer Image Processing" has been accepted for publication by the publishing house "Fizmatlit", one of the leading authors of which is V.V. Sergeev. He is the head and responsible executor of a number of projects of federal scientific and technical programs ("Advanced Information Technologies", "High Technologies", "Informatization of Russia" ...), contractual R & D with the Central Specialized Design Bureau, the Section of Applied Problems under the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences and other organizations.
Scientific research of V.V. Sergeev was supported by two grants of the Russian Foundation for Basic Research. V.V. Sergeev is an active teacher at the Samara State Aerospace University. He is the organizer and scientific and methodological director of the training of students in the specialization "Mathematical Image Processing" (within the specialty "Applied Mathematics"), which has existed at KAI since 1985. During his teaching, Vladislav Viktorovich delivered and read 12 lecture courses, prepared cycles of laboratory practical training, developed and published 16 educational and methodological works. V.V. Sergeev pays great attention to the training of highly qualified scientific personnel; five candidates and one doctor of sciences have been trained under his supervision. He is a member of dissertation councils for awarding candidate and doctoral degrees in the specialty 01.04.01 - "Technique of physical experiments, physics of devices, automation of physical research" and 05.13.18 - "Mathematical modeling, numerical methods and software packages", systematically opposes candidate and doctoral dissertations.
Over the past ten years, V.V. Sergeev personally or under his direct scientific supervision developed:
- new fast parallel-recursive algorithms for calculating local features and digital filtering of images;
- new unified algorithms for local image processing (filtering, preparation, object selection) based on the principles of pattern recognition;
- new algorithms and information technologies for image compression with controlled error in data recovery;
- algorithmic and software support for the synthesis of ultra-fast computational procedures for filtering (calculating convolutions) of signals;
- information technologies and software for modeling the video information path of optical-electronic remote sensing systems;
- unique environmental equipment for cleaning groundwater and water surfaces from liquid petroleum products.
During this period, three doctoral (including his own) and five candidate dissertations were prepared and defended in the research group he led.
For his work "Development of mathematical methods for image processing and their application in creating samples of new equipment at enterprises of the Samara region", V.V. Sergeev was awarded the provincial prize in the field of science and technology for 1998.
V.V. Sergeev concurrently heads the Samara branch of ZAO Sovinformsputnik and ZAO Computer Technologies - enterprises where the scientific results obtained under his leadership are successfully used in solving applied problems of signal and image processing, creating geoinformation systems and technologies, developing and using specialized environmental equipment.
V.V. Sergeev is a full member of the Russian Ecological Academy, a corresponding member of the Academy of Tecnical Sciences of the Russian Federation, chairman of the Volga regional section of the Russian branch of IAPR (The International Association for Pattern Recognition), and a member of SPIE (The International Society for Optical Engineering).
