Abstract:
The paper considers the possibility of scaling the fragments of digital images for more detailed viewing by a method similar to optical zoom in video cameras. This method is based on extrapolating the optical spectrum of the image and adding a weight function to partially compensate for the Gibbs effect. The advantage of this method is that fine details of the image are enlarged without blurring, with clear shape retention. This differs this method significantly from the scaling by the bilinear interpolation technique. The paper presents the numerical results of comparing the proposed method with those implemented in the Alchemy software.
