Abstract:
In 1999, the Russian and world community celebrated the 275th anniversary of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS), founded by order of Peter I in February 1724. Over the years of its existence, the Academy has collected unique documents and now it can boast of a variety of rich archives that form an integral part of the world cultural heritage and are of exceptional interest. They are stored in the Central Archive of the Russian Academy of Sciences, in various academic museums, scientific institutes, other organizations of the Academy, as well as in private collections and include artistic portraits and photographs of scientists, their manuscripts and other materials related to the activities of the Russian Academy and the history of the world and Russian science.
