Diffractive optical elements matched to Laguerre-Gaussian modes

Abstract:
The paper develops and investigates iterative algorithms for the design of a phase optical element that generates Laguerre-Gaussian light beams with a given mode composition, including singlemode beams. It shows that individual Laguerre-Gaussian modes can be generated efficiently by the phase elements with the transmission equal to the sign function of the corresponding generalized Laguerre polynomial. The results of numerical simulation are presented .
